Is honesty always the best policy?
At first I must say that my class and I have had a discussion about honesty.
Although we make sometimes small lies to protect somebody`s feelings, for example when a friend asks for my opinion about his/her clothes and I respond that it looks fantastic, but instead it looks strange. Some people believe that in some situations it is good to lie but other insist that it is better to say the truth. For example: When my best friend tells me, that she´s going to meet another boyfriend although she has a boyfriend. For me it`s cheating and it´s not okay to say nothing to both boys! In summarise it´s hard to stand to your mind or to lie. However it could be argued that some small lies are good in everybody´s life. Basically I think it´s very important to be always honest. Unfortunately it doesn`t succeed always. My parents taught me to always tell the truth. Of course I made lies. But I don´t feel good and I´m not proud of this. Hand on heart: Every now and then everybody tell lies. When I was a child I told deliberate lies to my mum, but she knew my intentions right from the beginning. She was very disappointed with me. My Dad says always, that truth can only be seen by an attitude of continuous honesty. But sometimes I couldn`t tell my parents the truth, so I told them a white lie But it just slipped out. Directly after this my parents are sad and they feel hurt. Therefore I try to be honest. Sometimes more honesty is desirable!
