First of all I want to start with the adjoining countries: Libya in the west, the Sudan in the south, the Red Sea in the east, the Mediterranean Sea in the north and Israel in north-east.


The capitol of Egypt is Cairo. Cairo is also the biggest town in the Arabian world with about 16,2 million inhabitants.
There is no obligation to register in Egypt so the assumed population is a projection based on national censuses.
The Egyptian seat of government, the parliament, all state institutions and religious departments are located in Cairo.
There are many universities, colleges, theaters, museums as well as monuments in Cairo.
You can see many art treasures of the famous Fararo Tutenchamun at the Museum of Art in Cairo.
Egyptians speak Egyptian-Arabian and pay in Egyptian-Pounds.
There is a high illiteracy of about 58 % in Egypt.
The life expectancy is about 70 years.
Since 1979 the old part of Cairo town appears on the list of the World Cultural Heritages.


Alexandria was founded 331 before Christ and was given its name after Alexander the Great.
Alexandria has about 5,3 million inhabitants and is the second largest town in Egypt.
The antique Alexandria was famous for its lighthouse (Pharos), one of the Seven Wonders of the World.
Also A. is the biggest town with a direct access to the Mediterranean Sea.
Since 1994 archeological underwater research takes place in the harbour of Alexandria. to achieve knowledge on the predecessor settlement of Rhakotis.
Pipelines provide Alexandria with natural gas and ground oil from Sues.


The third largest town in Egypt is Gise.
Gise has about 3,3 million inhabitants and is situated on the westbanks of the Nile, about 20 kilometres south-west of the town centre of Cairo.
Gise is well known for the Gise Plateau with its famous monuments, like the old Egyptian Royal-Tombs and the Sphinx, the Great Pyramide of Gise aswell as other pyramides and temples.
Gise is very popular by tourists because they can take a ride on camels to see the desert and explore the pyramides inside and outside.
You can also buy figures of allabaster and other gifts everywhere.
My parents went on holiday to Egypt 3 times and they told me that the Egyptians ask for money for anything, like information, questions or just for showing you the way to a cave.
Unfortunately there are disturbances in Egypt and for this reason many people stay away from this great and beautiful country.
