It's the racism we had to put up with from the Melbourne people that killed the Romani cafe. Even though I stuck info papers about Romanies on the window for them to read, they still made racist remarks. These comments where very hurtful...Quote just a few we endured over the time the cafe was open. 'Trailer trash, Gypsies are only happy in their own dirt. Won't eat in a Gypsy cafe, don't want any Gypsy food.'
One of the men told me they don't like Gypsies out there, another lot said, 'Typical Gypsies. Here today, gone tommorrow.' Of course there was also people eating at the cafe that weren't like that but not enough to keep us going. I received tips (money) from nice people and a few regular customers and supporter. Among them were nice Jewish people who got me in touch with a Roma family that I'm in touch with now, but Melbourne was the pits. No wonder one Rom, named Sebastien, said they'll hurt us and ridicule us. That's why the Roma in Melbourne stay invisable.
It's a really bad situation. There is a lot of underlying racism out there in Australia. Dave, an Australian, was devasted when he found out. He's very wary of Australians now.
But Australiens are made up of Europeans and among them are Germans for eg.. in Yarra council where we were that has a large populations of Germans who migrated there and English as well plus Hungarians etc in the pissing place,
......So it never happens again for bloody god damn sake why don't us stick together, but then Sintitikes is mixed with lot's of German lingo anyway so who understands the ground rules of Roma and speaks proper Romanes here anyway you all forgot!!..by the way it was half a million of Sinti and Roma that were killed in the second world war by the Germans and I quote again, it was Sinti and Roma and after all we all come from the same stock don't forget that.
I'll be busy now promoting my literature to help to save something here with education. My gran who was Sinti and not by choice would call you all halb dackel if you Sinti don't stick up for yourselves and for the Roma as well to help educate those guilty ones out there or at least their off spings so they don't make the same mistake as their perhaps forefathers.
Bye from Australia interstate,
